Bath Time

OK. As you are probably all aware of my favorite things to do when I visit KY is to spend the night with Lissa and take a LONG hot bubble bath in her jet tub :-) Some people aren't bath takers but I love it. I think it stems from doing it so much growing up. When I had muscle soreness from dance or something I would take a bath as hot as I could get it and just lay there. I still do it. I love it!

I also used to drag in our radio into the bathroom and play soft music to help me relax. When I took showers I loved to have on some music that pumped me up for the day. I don't know what it is but I love music when I am taking a bath or shower.

This week being sick I have taken lots of long hot baths and I finally have a vertical CD player that Dusty attached to the wall for me so I could relax and enjoy music while I try and feel better! Now my bubble baths are complete! (or at least as complete as they can be without that garden tub....)

Day 7

It's day 7 of being sick! I am lots better but now I just seem to have a never ending head cold. I had some kind of flu/cold/strep throat thing going and and I am so glad to be feeling better! I wish I was in KY so mom could take care of me :-) Dusty did a great job though, when I actually let him take care of me. I hate just sitting around. I want to be doing things or out of bed. But Dusty was quick to put me in bed. I hope whatever I had doesn't make it's rounds with your families. It was pretty nasty!

The Mom Test

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and tarted to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs' I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.' I was thinking quickly. 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'OH...I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad. ''Exactly' I replied back with a big smile on my face.

Go Dusty, It's Ya Berft-day! :-)

Imagine having a magazine that you are excited to get every month. You have read it faithfully for over 15 years!!! You know what's what in the industry and you have dreamed about being published in that same magazine since you were a boy.

Well, Dusty had a section posted in Reptiles Magazine about his book coming out! It was so cool to see his name and his book in print in a magazine he has read since he was a boy. We are so looking forward the thing actually coming out. Now we are probably looking to the first of March for the shipping of the books if all goes well! Bummer, but ya gotta take what you can get. We are still toying with the idea of heading out to Texas so he can do pre-sells and give his presentation.

Anyway, we were stoked about seeing this. To top it all off we got a email from the BYU newspaper and they are doing an article on Dusty and his book in the paper and they are interviewing him tomorrow. I am sending off another press release to a few more companies to see if we can get some more press. It's an exciting venture and I am very proud of Dusty!

Be A Johnny!

http://www.stservicemovie.com/

This video made me cry today. It's just what I needed. I have felt for the past little while like I am just floating around in life with no definite plan. I am working really hard to really solidify a vision for my life and what I want to do with it. Who I want to be remembered as. What will be my contribution to my family and the world? These are all very important questions that take you on a journey of discovery.

This video reminded me that no matter what part of the journey I am on in life, if I am a "Johnny" life will have meaning and purpose and my vision will unfold before my eyes. Johnny didn't treat the people he interacted with as customers or shoppers. He treated these people with enthusiasm, energy and he literally shared a part of his soul with these people everyday. In his own small, yet big, contribution Johnny touched the lives of those around him as he found what he could do best and did it with everything he had.

This is just the kind of picker-up I needed today to help keep things in perspective for me. Each of you that read this blog has SO much to offer this world. I see so many strengths ad talents in every one of you. We can all be "Johnny's" in our homes and communities. I know in many ways a lot of you already are. I love you all! Enjoy the video.

Updates

OK. I have been kind of lame when it has come to blogging lately. Not too much has been going on. Here are some random things that has been happenin':

  1. I have had a sore throat and a bad headache the past few days.
  2. I just got back from St. George Utah and it was gorgeous down there. It was like 60 degrees :-) I had to go for work but it was really nice down there.
  3. I am getting my haircut tomorrow and paying like $30 for someone to help me pick a new style etc. I haven't really paid that much for a haircut like ever but we'll see how it goes. I will post pictures on Thursday probably.
  4. I am looking forward to Thursday....valentines day.....
  5. I actually ate black beans and pico degio on an AMAZING sweet pork salad from Cafe Rio and actually loved it and went back for another one yesterday.
  6. I ALSO ate kale and swiss chard for the first time in the past couple of weeks....I know, I know....I almost had a heart attack too...
  7. I am still getting up at 5:30 AM to go to my workouts and also going to my night classes. (I know Melissa is working out a lot too...YOU GO GIRL!)
  8. Even though I have eaten healthy foods and working out, I wish I could be there with Jason to go hit up the Cheesecake Factory together again!!! :-)

Surface Computing

This is probably the most amazing video I have seen. Wow! Can you imagine in just 10 years where technology will take us.
