The Life Lessons from Lightening McQueen

He's not really a biter, but has chomped a few arms in his time. It never hurts to learn it again!

He was SO MUDDY this picture doesn't do it justice. We had fun though.

These are Mr Potato Head glasses...

Besides Lightening McQueen trains are the next best thing!

Loves to go splash in puddles and I actually have fun too! Why not?!

Sunday clothes from cousin Evan. He looked so sharp but he would NOT sit still to comb his hair or leave his shirt tucked in. What is up with that and boys?

He got up on the counter and was drinking agave nectar like a bottle! lol

I just realized that when I am talking to Colton and persuading him to do what I want him to do, I just have to mention that Lightening McQueen does it. Last night for example I couldn't get him to take some medicine so I put in in a cup with a straw and had Lightening McQueen drink it instead and then he wanted more! lol I do that all the time though. He L.O.V.E.S. cars the movie and just cars in general. He is such a sweet little guy who is all boy and loves to explore and just LIVE. Colton walks around the house saying, "Mater funny. Queen chow chow."

Colton is such a great example to me in so many ways and although it's hard to get jack done in the house, he loves to be with me all of the time. We go everywhere and do everything together and it's just a blast. I do take (and need) my me time but I just love being with him. It makes me sad that we aren't around family everyday but blogs and facebook are the next best thing I guess!

He has been playing the, "where do it go? there it is" game and is so funny! We go outside all of the time but now it's, "watch" constantly. He would watch movie after movie but if I tell him we are going outside he'll jump up and go. I love seeing him learn new words, want to help me with cooking, cleaning...he's just such a little man.

Muah! Colton. I can't believe you are two in just a couple months!

Who knew clipboards could be so cute!

So I have found a craft that I love to do. I thought that this was like new or something, but whatever. That goes to show you how low on the whole domestic-goddess totem pole I am :-)

I painted the regular-old clipboard and then let it dry and modge-podged the scrapbook paper onto it and then modge-podged the whole thing to seal the paint. Then I embellished it a bit with scrapbook stuff. It says menu on it and this is where I hang up our menus for the week. I don't know why I hate the question "what's for dinner?" - actually I do know why. My dad always asked mom that morning, noon and night and that used to get on all of our nerves. So now, Dusty can just look at whats for dinner. Plus it makes me get organized and helps with preparing the shopping list.

Anyway. I had a lot of fun making this and would totally make them again for gifts or for fun. It's time consuming but I loved the way it turned out. I actually use a clipboard to hang my running grocery list for the week inside of my pantry so I think I will make a cute one for that too!

Making Do and fixin' up

So Dusty and I have been slowly adding things to our home to make it nicer and just fixing up the place. We both had this attitude of "when we get a house we will...." and we just got tired of feeling like we didn't have nice things. Not even nice things but like nothing matched and the house just looked thrown together even when it was clean. So we have been adding a little here and there and even the SMALL things make a HUGE difference.

For my birthday Dusty got me a bakers rack for the kitchen. He had it delivered and ready for me when I got back from a trip I had taken this summer. I LOVED it. I think I have posted before that we are building kind of a rustic-country-homey-feel to our place. I loved this addition to our kitchen. We still have a LONG way to go before things are how we want them but I am grateful we have been able to do things like this to make it feel nicer.

So I have a bakers rack, a fruit basket holder I love, a nice wooden frame calendar a little apron that matches the hen curtains Dusty's momma gave me, a way nice iron rod cookbook holder, some Gooseberry Patch cookbooks (....if you don't have any, you need some; ESPECIALLY if you are from the south!!), that basket in the bottom rack is for my potatoes and we have a little red dish in the middle for the garlic and onions. I just love it!

Country Table Cloth

Anybody got any ideas where I can find a real country looking/feeling table cloth? It's a little harder than I thought trying to find one. (even seasonal ones) If you have any ideas, please post them. Gracias.

New Additions to our Home

We have been slowly actually decorating our house. We only have really been concentrating on the living room, next is the kitchen etc. etc. We are really happy with what we have done. (more pics soon) Here are a few pictures of our tv armoire and new quilt. We are doing a rustic country theme in our home. It's amazing the feeling that you get even when you make just a few changes. It's fun actually creating a home with a homey feeling :-)

The Scrapbox, my new love

This can be moved to the top ob my wish list. I love, love, love them. The Scrapbox is amazing. We are selling them through my work now to help genealogists get organized. We had a focus group where the company brought one in and we told them what we like and didn't like about it and all the uses we can think of for it. My favorite part is that it really does fold up easy and looks like a beautiful cabinet for your home. Did I say I love it? I love it. I want at LEAST two in my home. I can use the mini scrapbox for mail, stamps, important papers etc. that need my attention, use it at my bill paying station or whatever. The big ones can be used for craft stuff and scrapbooking and then I would want one for our home office to keep extra supplies in, chargers, cords, cds, office supplies, etc. etc. etc. If you are a writer you can use one to store all of your research and data until it is complete and then move out the stuff and make room for your new project.

I would even settle for a big scrapbox and then a mini workbox. check it out. If you actually want to buy anything off the site, come to me and I can get you a better price!

Did I say I love them? I love them.
