As I sit in my quiet house before my workout I was thinking about today and how there is bound to be tons of people waiting to be seated at restaurants and flowers being bought and chocolates being eaten :-), I think of how grateful I am for my husband.
I love that each Valentines Day Dusty really is himself. I love that he doesn't go out of character just to do something that he thinks he should because other people are doing it on this one day out of the year. Every single day Dusty tries to show me that he loves me by supporting me in my dreams and goals. He tells me that he loves me by his touch or his smile. I love that he knows my "love language" and tries to show me in his best way how very much he loves me. If he has the notion to get something for me he does. If he has the notion to create "Amy Land" when get home from work, he does. If he has the notion to do the dishes or straighten the house for me, he does.
I don't expect a romantic evening or full day of activities planned. I don't expect flowers or chocolates, although he KNOWS that dark chocolate is always welcome. I love that I know whatever we do together, no matter what day of the year it is will be fun, full of love, adventurous and full of laughs, smiles and "I love you's." Dusty would buy me the world if he could. He would take me out absolutely anywhere I wanted to go. The life we are building together is a testament to that.
Every day Dusty "slays dragons" for me at school, at home, in life trying to building his dreams and support our family....what more could I ask for? I couldn't and I wouldn't. I love Dusty so much and to me Valentines Day is just one day out of the year to reflect on that love for him and celebrate in our own way what it means to be married to your best friend. Six years ago today he proposed to me. I remember the rush of feelings and deep sense of love and respect I had for him then and couldn't have imagined how much I would love him now.
There is so much about Dusty that I love. He has a great contribution to make to this world and he makes it one day at a time. I love that Dusty has such great aspirations and uses every moment to gain and correctly apply that knowledge consistently in order to become a better person for himself, me, his children to come, his field of study, the world and animals which he serves.
He serves me everyday. He loves me everyday. I am so lucky to be his bride. I am so lucky to celebrate this day with him, the love of my life. My Valentine.
